Swedish Folk Art and the Dala Horse

A little bit about our Swedish Folk Art . Swedish folk art has been very popular over the past year with many items heading to the USA and the UK. Swedish ware is rare, completely unique and many items having remnants of original paint.

Folk art is typically hand crafted in the community made by home owners usually during the long winters in the frozen white landscape of the Scandinavian regions.

Other Swedish ware that has been popular are bowls crafted from tree roots, baskets also made from twined tree roots and small wooden toy animals usually the horse and also the traditional Dala horse being a symbol of strength and courage. Dating from the 17th century were sold at markets in small towns and villages in Dalarna, in Central Sweden.
